Gum Recession

This patient was referred from her general dentist for treatment of gum recession, frenectomy, and lack of attached gingiva.  The primary cause of the gum recession is inflammation with contributing factors of a high frenula attachment and thin biotype.  The best treatment option includes a simultaneous frenectomy with free gingival graft.  The free gingival graft will allow for root coverage and increase of attached tissue.  A pre-op and 6 week post-op are included to show the difference that this procedure can make.  The present case shows the difficulty in obtaining complete root coverage in older patients, and that these cases should be caught as early as possible.  Also, addition of attached gingiva is impossible with laser treatment.  We treat many types of gum recession in Oklahoma City.
