Dental Implants

Implant placement in conjunction and/or subsequent with alveolar ridge augmentation has been shown to be a successful treatment for long-term functional prosthetic reconstruction.  Several surgical techniques have been described to achieve this goal with guided bone regeneration being one of the most popular and predictable.  It has recently been reported that long-term success of dental implants-supported prosthetic rehabilitation is equal for dental implants placed at regenerated or pristine bone, regardless the timing of dental implant placement.  The augmentation procedure may be performed prior to or in conjunction with implant placement where both techniques showing high clinical success rate and long-term function.  It has also been claimed that obtaining initial stability of the implant is a prerequisite to successful osseointegration no matter what technique is applied.

Oklahoma City Patient – Dental Implants – Case Presentation

A current patient of mine presented with multiple missing upper left teeth, and was interested in replacing them.  I determined, based on X-rays, that a lateral window sinus augmentation was required for proper dental implant placement and length.  After approximately six months of healing and bone regeneration, three dental implants were surgically placed.  The dental implants selected were Straumann regular collar bone level.  After three month of osseointegration, the patient was referred to her general dentist for impressions and restorations.  The patient was extremely pleased the function and esthetics of her new teeth.  As a Oklahoma City Periodontist, I’m extremely privilege to offer my patient’s complex solutions for missing teeth and inadequate bone.
